Prof. Chen has been honored with the “Beijing Higher Education Prominent Teacher Award” along with the “Baosteel Education Award” granted by the Beijing Municipal Education commission. Her research fields range from theatre and culture, theatre and mythology to the literature and ethics of science and technology. She is among the leading Chinese experts on Harold Pinter, Tom Stoppard and Edward Bond and their literary works.
Prof. Chen has published more than 50 articles in academic journals and 11 books (translations included), such as Shakespeare’s Presence in Post-War English Drama. Beijing (2019).
Her research areas include western drama and culture, modern and contemporary British and American novels and culture, foreign literature and literary theories and world literature, featuring western drama and culture. The center also works in tandem with foreign universities for academic exchanges, such as by establishing formal academic programs to foster doctoral candidates with Prof. Dominic Shellard, a famous British dramatist and the former vice-chancellor of De Montfort University.
