Translation Studies

Translation studies in SFS cover various fields, including corpus-based translation studies, Chinese classics translation studies, translation and sinology and research on professional translation services, with Corpus-based translation studies as its main strength.

From 2015-2020, the research team has undertaken 1 project of the National Social Science Fund of China and 4 projects at the provincial and  ministerial level including research or educational reform projects. Additionally, they have published 3 books including both monographs and translations, 5 articles in CSSCI journals and 9 articles respectively in Chinese Core Journals and in other journals featuring foreign language studies, and participated in the compilation of 4 textbooks.

Director: Assoc. Prof. Zhao Qiurong

Assoc. Prof. Zhao is a member of the Translation Culture Research Council and the Corpus-based Translation Studies Committee. Her research interests include Translatology and Corpus Linguistics.

Dr. Zhao has been funded twice by NSSFC, twice by MOE social sciences foundations and once by Beijing Social Sciences Foundation and published 20 articles on translation and anything concerned. She has also authored 2 books, including Translation and Development of Modern Chinese Language (2020), publishing extensively in her respective fields.
