This lecture was divided into three parts---topic selection strategies, writing standards and journal article publications. Professor Chen believed that in the topic selection, on the one hand, the authors could focus on their interests, expertise and demands; on the other hand, they could pay attention to literature reading, tracking topics of NSSFC projects, frequently cited papers and high level academic seminars at home and abroad. In addition, in topic selection process, Professor Chen suggested that the authors could gradually narrow the scope of topics and track hot issues in real time with earnest implementation of “five principles”. In terms of writing standards, Professor Chen put forward three aspects---academic research ethics, academic paper format specifications, and academic paper language specifications. The second one mainly included the title, abstract, keywords, instruction, main body, conclusion, notes and references. In terms of journal article publications, the author should pay attention to notes for submission. Manifestations of papers with different qualities should be compared and summarized in order to e publish high-quality paper successfully.

Professor Chen’s humorous speech brought a positive reaction. He also answered the questions of participators in their paper writing. Professor Chen offered constructive suggestions for teachers in paper publications and for graduate students in topic selection and paper writing. All participators gained a lot in this lecture
